Presently working as a Senior Economist at the Centre for Economic Policy and Public Finance, Mr Shahi had been a member of the Indian Economic Service (IES), and retired as Deputy Adviser, Planning Commission, Government of India. He had also worked as Deputy Director in the Ministry of Industries, SISI, Patna and Assistant Director in Rural Electrification Corporation and other offices of the Government of India. He had been responsible for guiding and conducting the census of small scale industries in Bihar, revival of sick and closed SSI units through State Level Rehabilitation Committee (SLRC) in Bihar, associated with a committee for preparing economic packages for districts affected by extremism in Bihar, preparation of District Potential Surveys for setting up small scale industries in respect of various districts in Bihar along with the feasibility reports for rural electrification in Bihar, etc. Besides, Mr Shahi has a very long association with a number of evaluation (performance and impact) and research studies relating to the fields of rural electrification in Bihar, etc. Besides, Mr Shahi has a very long association with a number of evaluation (performance and impact) and research studies relating to the fields of rural development, poverty alleviation, agriculture, industries, rural electrification, education, environment, health and family welfare.
His research interests centre on Socio Economic issues. He has Conducted studies on Evaluation and Monitoring of various schemes all over the country.
