The Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI), Patna invites applications from outstanding scholars, researchers, and practitioners for rolling faculty positions at the levels of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor.
ADRI is an independent public policy research institute committed to generating high-quality interdisciplinary research, evidence-based policy engagement, and capacity building across critical development sectors. We seek faculty members who combine academic excellence with a strong commitment to addressing real-world policy challenges through research, teaching, and institutional leadership.
Applications are invited on a rolling basis from candidates with demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following broad domains.
Areas of Specialisation
Socio- Economics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Global Development, Law & Governance, Public Finance and Fiscal Governance, History, Rural Development, Environmental Sciences, Business Management, Education, Computer Science, GIS & Remote Sensing, Machine Learning.
Candidates with exceptional academic credentials and expertise in allied areas relevant to ADRI's research mandate may also be considered.
Essential Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
● A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline from a recognised Indian or international university.
● An outstanding academic record with demonstrated research excellence.
●Strong publication record in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and/or academic books appropriate to career stage.
● Evidence of interdisciplinary research and policy engagement will be an added advantage.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Ability to contribute to collaborative research, teaching, mentoring, and institutional development.
Appointments at the Associate Professor and Professor levels shall additionally require substantial evidence of academic leadership, externally funded research, doctoral supervision (where applicable), and sustained scholarly contributions.
Preference may be given to candidates with experience working with governments, international organisations, development agencies, think tanks, or interdisciplinary research centres.
Roles and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
● Undertake high-quality interdisciplinary research.
● Publish in leading national and international journals.
● Develop externally funded research proposals.
● Contribute to policy reports, working papers, and evidence-based advisory work.
● Design and deliver teaching, executive education, and capacity-building programmes.
● Mentor research staff, interns, and early-career scholars.
● Build national and international academic collaborations.
● Contribute to ADRI's institutional growth through academic leadership and outreach.
Remuneration
Salary, benefits, and academic support shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, research accomplishments, and institutional norms, and will be broadly aligned with leading academic and policy research institutions in India according to UGC norms.
