The Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI), Patna invites applications from motivated graduates and early-career researchers for the position of Research Associate – I.

ADRI is an independent public policy research institute committed to generating high-quality interdisciplinary research, evidence-based policy engagement, and capacity building across critical development sectors. Research Associates work closely with faculty members, senior researchers, and project teams in supporting research projects, policy studies, field research, data collection, documentation, and other academic initiatives.

Applications are invited on a rolling basis from candidates with academic or research interests in one or more of the following broad domains.

Areas of Research

Socio- Economics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Global Development, Law & Governance, Public Finance and Fiscal Governance, History, Rural Development, Environmental Sciences, Business Management, Education, Computer Science, GIS & Remote Sensing, Machine Learning.

Candidates with academic or research interests in allied areas relevant to ADRI's research mandate may also be considered.

Essential Qualifications

●      A Bachelor's degree or equivalent undergraduate qualification in a relevant discipline from a recognised Indian or international university.

●      Strong academic record and demonstrated interest in research.

●      Good written and verbal communication skills.

●      Ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.

Prior research experience is desirable but not mandatory. Candidates demonstrating strong research aptitude, analytical ability, academic curiosity, and willingness to engage with interdisciplinary research will be encouraged to apply.

Candidates from disciplines including, but not limited to, economics, law, public policy, political science, sociology, development studies, public health, environmental studies, statistics, data science, and other relevant/allied disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Candidates currently pursuing their final year of the relevant undergraduate degree may also be considered, subject to completion of the qualification prior to appointment.

Roles and Responsibilities

The selected candidate may be expected to:

●      Support literature reviews and desk research.

●      Assist with data collection, organisation, cleaning, and documentation.

●      Support field research, surveys, interviews, and stakeholder consultations.

●      Assist in preparing research notes, reports, policy briefs, presentations, and other research outputs.

●      Support basic quantitative and qualitative analysis under the guidance of senior researchers.

●      Assist faculty members and research teams in ongoing research projects.

●      Support the organisation of seminars, workshops, conferences, and other academic activities.

●      Assist with research documentation, databases, and project records.

●      Undertake other research and institutional responsibilities as required.

Desired Skills and Attributes

Preference may be given to candidates with:

●      0-6 months of relevant work experience

●      Strong research aptitude and analytical ability.

●      Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

●      Familiarity with basic research methods.

●      Ability to conduct literature and desk research.

●      Basic proficiency in relevant analytical, statistical, or research software will be an advantage.

●      Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

●      Demonstrated interest in public policy, development, governance, public health, environment, or related areas.

Remuneration

Remuneration shall be commensurate with qualifications, relevant experience, research skills, and institutional norms, and will be broadly aligned with leading academic and policy research institutions in India according to UGC norms.
