The Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI), Patna invites applications from motivated researchers and academically oriented professionals for the position of Research Associate – II.

ADRI is an independent public policy research institute committed to generating high-quality interdisciplinary research, evidence-based policy engagement, and capacity building across critical development sectors. Research Associates work closely with faculty members, senior researchers, and project teams on research projects, policy studies, field research, data analysis, publications, and other academic initiatives.

Applications are invited on a rolling basis from candidates with demonstrated academic or research interest in one or more of the following broad domains.

Areas of Research

Socio- Economics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Global Development, Law & Governance, Public Finance and Fiscal Governance, History, Rural Development, Environmental Sciences, Business Management, Education, Computer Science, GIS & Remote Sensing, Machine Learning.

Candidates with academic or research interests in allied areas relevant to ADRI's research mandate may also be considered.

Essential Qualifications

●      A Master's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline from a recognised Indian or international university.

●      Strong academic record and demonstrated interest in research.

●      Strong written and verbal communication skills.

●      Ability to undertake independent and collaborative research.

Relevant experience in research methods, data analysis, literature reviews, field research, academic writing, policy research, or interdisciplinary research will be an advantage.

Candidates from disciplines including, but not limited to, public policy, economics, law, political science, sociology, development studies, public health, environmental studies, statistics, data science, and other relevant/allied disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Roles and Responsibilities

The selected candidate may be expected to:

●      Conduct literature reviews, evidence synthesis, and desk research.

●      Support the design and implementation of quantitative and qualitative research.

●      Undertake data collection, cleaning, analysis, and documentation.

●      Contribute to field research, surveys, interviews, and stakeholder consultations.

●      Prepare research notes, working papers, policy briefs, reports, and academic manuscripts.

●      Support research proposals and externally funded projects.

●      Contribute to data visualisation and preparation of research outputs.

●      Coordinate specific research activities under the supervision of faculty members and senior researchers.

●      Support seminars, workshops, conferences, and other academic activities.

●      Undertake other research responsibilities as required by the relevant project or research programme.

Desired Skills and Attributes

Preference may be given to candidates with:

●      Strong analytical and research skills.

●      1-2 years of experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.

●      Familiarity with statistical, analytical, or research software.

●      Experience in academic or policy-oriented research.

●      Strong academic writing and communication skills.

●      Ability to work independently as well as in interdisciplinary teams.

●      Experience working with academic institutions, research organisations, think tanks, governments, development organisations, or civil society organisations.

Remuneration

Remuneration shall be commensurate with qualifications, relevant experience, research skills, and institutional norms, and will be broadly aligned with leading academic and policy research institutions in India according to UGC norms.
