Description:

Centre for Environment, Energy & Climate Change (CEECC) is seeking to hire enthusiastic, passionate individuals as a “Research Officer- Policy” to coordinate and assist in environmental resource management and climate change related policy research, along with handling media and networking for the centre’s outreach. A multitasking candidate would be the best suited for this position.

The Centre is accredited and recognised by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, housed at Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI). CEECC is currently involved in various research mandates of MoEF&CC. The research work involves National Environmental Survey(s) impending to State of Environment Report (SoER), Green Skill Development Programme, developing framework to calculate sectorial Water Footprint for Indian standards and Climate Finance & Governance.

ADRI works on multiple aspects of social science including economic policy, health policy, mental health and environment and frequently conducts conferences, seminars, workshops on issues pertaining to social science research. Hence, the individual working here would get an opportunity to interact with the researchers from different sectors along with a prospect to pursue their own research on any relevant topic so that it fits the idea of mutual growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in research work, majorly on the project City Specific Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP), Clean Energy domain and other on-going projects at CEECC 
  • Assist the Policy Advocacy team in preparing an Action Plan for the State regulatory agencies to help them advice line departments to implement and monitor the action plan and identify the research gaps
  • He/She will undertake literature review and collaborate with consortium partners’ to analyse set of control measures, identify gaps and give technical guidance and corrective ideas to implement the CAAP
  • Maintain detailed records of the centre’s different project activities, including deadlines, deliverables, publications, meetings, contacts, etc.
  • Design and implement the capacity building/training programs for the field staff
  • Coordinate the preparation of additional action plans and other studies as needed on environmental related safeguards
  • Assist with layout, formatting, and proofreading papers, briefs, and other published materials. Also responsible for writing notes, event summaries, and content for external activities as well as policy briefs, working papers
  • Coordinate lesson learning from monitoring and evaluation of the CEECC programme portfolio and support sharing of best practice and policy insights
  • Develop and manage specifically commissioned and funded monitoring and
    evaluation initiatives both qualitative and quantitative
  • Work closely with fundraising and communications team to share information about programme portfolio, pipeline, and specific projects and programme impact and support sharing of information between CSO’s and other partners
  • Contribute to strategic planning within the programme team, including annual and medium term planning and monitoring
  • Contribute to relevant public policy review/analysis, policy debates and discussions ensuring CEECC has increasing policy influence
  • Coordinate the project meetings, review, surveys and related tasks
  • Handle social media and networking of the organization. Also handle media partnership, press releases and communications
  • Additionally, sound understanding of the issues related to environment science, sustainability, energy efficiency, air pollution – its mitigation and adaptation would be preferable
  • Familiarity with basic scientific software/tools, used in scientific research and analysis would be preferable

Requirements:

  • Individual with a postgraduate degree in relevant field (like management, environmental management, environmental engineering, sustainability,  development studies, public policy, economics, international studies, social sciences, ) along with a keen interest and relevant work experience is essential
  • He/she should have completed a minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management or research and implementation or research programme handling or programmes planning, monitoring and evaluation (PME) or research projects with international funding agencies
  • Individuals must have sound research skills, scientific writing skills, communication skills and ability to summarise complex research in simpler implementable format
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Office) and experience in secondary data handling is essential
  • Knowledge of statistical tools, programming languages, GIS tools etc. will be an added advantage
  • Ability to be self-organized about their work
  • Ability to perform under pressure
  • Ready and willing to travel as and when required.
  • Ready to lead a team when required and work as a team as per the situation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimum or no supervision
  • Flexible to explore new avenues of research work, collaborations based on requirements
