Events of ADRI Patna
Patna, June 19. Most infrastructural projects being developed under the Smart Cities Mission in Patna lack active citizen engagement. When examined from the framework of the Arnstein ladder of citizen participation, no smart project in the city has been found to be in the highest category of citizen empowerment. These were the findings presented by Dr. Deepak Kumar of Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) today during the 2nd week of Research Innovation Week being organized by ADRI in the memory of its founders - Dr. Shaibal Gupta and Dr. Prabhat P Ghosh.
Speaking on data cleaning from the point of generation, Anshul and Pawan Lal, also of ADRI, pointed out that precision and validity are important for data accuracy. For maintaining data quality, a well-designed monitoring and evaluation framework is crucial. Use of GIS technology helps facilitate real-time field monitoring.
Earlier, the Member-Secretary of ADRI, Dr. Ashmita Gupta welcomed the participants. Gulshan Patel of CSEC-ADRI elaborated on the importance and scope of the central government’s scheme Green Skills Development Program (GSDP)and how ADRI has helped its execution by holding training programs for the youth. Abhishek Prasad and Alam Mozahid of ADRI outlined the workflow of the Social Impact Assessment studies that is undertaken by ADRI. These studies evaluate the impact of land acquisition on people who are affected by construction of public projects.
ADRI’s Mausam Bahar described the features of a Hexapod Spider Robot with a Robotic arm. He showed how an arm on the robot’s top can interact with the environment. His presentation was made under the guidance of Dr. Mousumi Gupta, Research Lead at ADRI. Ashish Thakur, also of ADRI, opined that cultivation of Kala Cotton, a native variety should be promoted as an economical and sustainable alternative to BT Cotton. Several scholars and budding researchers attended this workshop virtually and in the in-person mode.
