Patna. November 18. The environment-conserving EIACP wing of the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change (MoEFCC) of the Government of India continued its momentum of holding awareness drives for the Mission LiFE program today. It did so by sponsoring a competition for school children with the theme of Wealth-out-of-Waste at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Kurji. EIACP is hosted by the Centre for Studies on Environment and Climate (CSEC) at the Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) in Patna.
The school children were encouraged to make environmentally-sustainable decorative and functional products such as floor mats, flower pots, etc. out of wastes like cardboard boxes and old clothes. The aim was to add to the wealth of our country. A video featuring the same theme was then screened by Dr. Sunil Gupta and Ms. Pooja Kumari of CSEC-ADRI. They also urged the children to motivate their parents to take steps for preserving the environment by discarding single-use plastics. The Principal of Shri Chandra Middle School, Mrs. Prerna Suma, conferred awards to the winners of the competition and also distributed certificates. Ms. Sudha Kumari of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, and ADRI’s Gulshan Patel along with Mausam Bahar went around organizing the event enthusiastically. 112 participants took part in the event.
