January 30, 2023: Environment Information Awareness Capacity Building and Livelihood Programme at Centre for Studies on Environment and Climate, Asian Development Research Institute, Patna has participated in EIACP National Workshop on LiFE on 30th January 2023 at Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Indira Paryavaran Bhawan, Jorbagh Road, New Delhi. Total 6 EIACP-ADRI members (Professor Prabhat P Ghosh, Vivek Tejaswi, Dr. Mukesh Prasad, Pooja Kumari, Sarada Modak, Sanjeev Kumar) along with 2 Community Members (Nazda Khatoon and Md. Jasim) have participated in the event.
 The major focus of the centre is to highlight the importance and status of the wetlands of Bihar. The centre had showcase the following items at National Workshop.
  1. Wetland Model showcasing the Ecosystem and LiFE around Wetland
  2. Interactive interface showcasing water resources and their management (Wetlands of India and Bihar, Traditional water management practices games based on interactive interface, Showcase an interactive game/model based on ‘Water Footprint’, to raise awareness at the individual’s level about water conservation)
  3. Documentary (4 minutes) showcasing the interaction of wetlands and LiFE activities
  4. Wetland based produces/goods made by community members that provided livelihood to local communities (Handicrafts based on Sikki grass  including utilities and other daily uses of Sikki grass (Chrysopogon Zizanioides) or vetiver grass)
  5. Description of Wetland Produces including Fruits and seeds like Fox Nut (Makhana), Water Chest Nut (Singhara), Lotus Seeds, and sample of Nar kat (Aundo donax) grasses commonly extracted for the construction of rooftops in mudhouses by local communities.
  6. Poster and Brochure indicating the wetland status of Bihar
  7. Infographics, Wetlands Maps, newsletters, etc.
There were a large number of people interacting at the stall with their queries and questions on wetland produce and interfaces. Almost 200 to 250 people visited the stall. A group of school kids attracted by the Games or interface based on Traditional Water Management Practices of India. Senior Officials from the Ministry and scientists from the different EIACP Centres inquired about the status of wetland in Bihar.
