Workshop on Interactive Report Writing for Planning & Policy
13 Jan 2026

Patna. January 13. Speaking at a one-day training workshop organized by Patna’s Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) for Bihar government officials today, Hon’ble Planning and Development Minister Shree Bijendra Prasad Yadav urged the officials to cash in on the promising winds of change in Bihar to engender an industrial revolution. He emphasized on the fact that evidence-based data-driven inputs are being used extensively for multi-dimensional progress in the modern world. He expressed the hope that data analytics will be coupled with the reality of the state being blessed with plentiful resources like water to create an integrated vision for Bihar’s sustainable development. The Planning and Development Department of the government was singled out by him for making such a call.

The ACS of the Planning & Development Department of the Government of Bihar, Dr. N. Vijaya Lakshmi also addressed the gathering at this workshop titled “Interactive Report-Writing for Planning & Policy.” She regretted the fact that not much is known as to where Bihar stands with respect to attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) even though the Planning Department is the nodal department for the SDGs.  She pointed out that it is only through good report writing where data from all departments are compiled, analysed, and subsequently taken up for policy-making that success is brought about.

Earlier, the Member-Secretary of ADRI, Dr. Ashmita Gupta and other faculty members held five interactive training sessions for the government officials. The sessions included different methods for different types of reports. There were sessions on data collection, analysis, GIS mapping, building digital tools, and ethical use of data. The event saw a total of 45 participants. The Vote of Thanks was brought up by Dr. Deepak Kumar.
