World Earth Day 2026
22 Apr 2026

Patna. 22nd April. On the occasion of World Earth Day, an awareness programme was organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change - supported EIACP center along with Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS). EIACP (Environment, Information, Awareness and Capacity Building Programme) and JSS are both hosted by the Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI). The main objective of the programme was to enhance awareness about environmental conservation, and more so to motivate women to adopt a sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle.

The programme began with addresses from ADRI-EIACP’s IT Officer Gulshan Patel and Information Officer Mausam Bahar. In his address, Gulshan Patel elaborated on the purpose of celebrating World Earth Day, its background, and its relevance in present times. He stated that environmental conservation is the greatest need of the hour and that every individual must understand his/her responsibility toward it. He encouraged participants to conserve water, save energy, avoid single-use plastics, practice waste segregation, and plant more trees. On this occasion, Mausam Bahar also shared his views and stated that public awareness is extremely important for environmental protection. He emphasized that positive change in society can only be engendered through proper information and awareness, and such programmes play an important role in achieving this.

Thereafter, Director Sandeep Kumar from Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) highlighted the importance of World Earth Day, saying that Earth is critically important for sustaining our lives.  So, collective efforts are essential for its conservation. He motivated participants to adopt environmentally-responsible behavior in their daily lives.

Pankaj Kumar from JSS also actively participated in the programme. He discussed practical measures related to environmental conservation. He dwelt on how small steps (such as saving water, maintaining cleanliness, and reducing plastic use) can significantly contribute to improving our surrounding environment. An interactive session was also conducted in which enthusiastic participants brought forth their queries related to environmental issues. This interactive session made the programme even more effective and participatory in nature. A total of 48 attendees actively participated in the programme. At the end, all participants took a pledge for environmental conservation, thereby committing themselves to actively contribute towards maintaining a clean, green, and safe environment. This programme proved to be an important initiative for enhancing environmental awareness and strengthening community participation.
