Events of EIACP
Patna, June 5. On the occasion of World Environment Day, an awareness-cum-plantation drive featuring this year’s theme of ‘Combating Plastic Pollution’ was organized by ADRI or Asian Development Research Centre’s environmental crisis-fighting unit called CSEC-EIACP today. A video presentation and lecture on ways to save our health from plastic pollution and Mission Lifestyle for Environment was delivered jointly by Dr. Moushumi Gupta, EIACP Coordinator and Dr. Sunil Gupta, Program Officer of EIACP. The program aimed to encourage children to participate in and get to know about environmental conservation. This event was only made possible by the support of the Rainbow Foundation of India, which works tirelessly for the holistic development of deprived street children in collaboration with the Gyan Vigyan Samiti of Bihar. Suggestions made by the speakers for the way forward included using shopping bags made of cloth instead of single-use plastics and to give up using disposable plastic-made food containers. A sapling was also planted on ADRI premises to observe this day.
On this occasion, a drawing-cum-craft competition was held on the aforesaid theme. A summer camp for children was also inaugurated by the Director of the Children’s Program of Rainbow Foundation Ms. Srilatha Morampudi. Feedback was sought from some 60 attending children. They said they would also persuade their parents to use cloth and not plastics.
A total of 80 participants took part in this event Participants who excelled in these different activities were awarded with first, second and third prizes in each category. Ms. Pooja, Mr. Gulshan Patel, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar of CSEC-ADRI along with Mr. Anwarul Haque and Ms. Anjusmita of Rainbow Foundation were also present on the occasion.
