World River Day

The ENVIS (RP) Center of Asian Development of Research Institute (ADRI), Patna is organizing an awareness program on the occasion of World River Day, under the aegis of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India on 25th September 2022. As part of the awareness drive, the activities to be facilitated are as follows:

1.      Riverwalk cum Ganga clean-up drive

2.      Orientation on keystone species of River Ganga by Dr. Gopal Sharma, Zoological Survey of India, Patna

3.      Orientation on techniques of Riverine Photography by Naveen Kumar, Naturalists

Patna, September 25. An awareness program on the occasion of 'World River Day 2022' organized by the ENVIS Center at the Centre for Studies of Environment and Climate at the Asian Development Research Institute (CSEC-ADRI), under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, today in Patna. The objective of this program was to raise public awareness about ecological system of rivers and to encourage their conservation through change in the ‘Life Style for Sustainable Environment’. This is a national commitment recently announced by the Hon’ble Prime Minster of India Shri Narendra Modi.

The program included the Ganga river walk cum cleanup drive along the banks, followed by special lectures on the biodiversity and ecology of Ganga. The Lectures were delivered by Dr Gopal Sharma, Joint Director, Zoological Survey of India along with Navin Kumar from the Indian Bird Conservation Network. Dr Prabhat P Ghosh, Vivek Tejaswi, Dr Ajeet Singh, Pooja Kumari, Sarada Modak, Sanjeev Kumar and other faculty from ADRI were present in the programme. Volunteers from Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhawan, Bhumi, NIT, Patna University, and others also participated in the cleanup drive.
